The readings are updated automatically every 10 seconds.

Can I switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit?

Yes, you can easily choose between Celsius and Fahrenheit using the touch buttons.

Does the backlight stay on during night time once the button is pressed?

Trick question. Mine DID only come on when I pressed the centre bulb button and DID go off again after 10 seconds (ish). However, NOW it is always blue and when I press the bulb button to attempt to turn the backlight off - it makes it brighter! The light is ON all the time.

Is the screen permanently on and displaying information or do you need to press a button to wake it up?

It's permanently on in a dark mode (ie no backlight, but you can read the figures clearly in daylight.) Backlight is provided for a short period when you press a button. It's a nicely made item and does the job well.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

I guess so, if it not exposed to rain, i have used it on my balcony, the unit is not IP rated though so be careful not to get water or direct sunlight on it. This company makes a unit that has an outdoor sensor you can buy that instead and have both indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity readings...

Can you look back through records and see what the temperature was at 2 am, 4 am etc the night before?

At this time you cannot do this, but we are looking to increase the memory capacity in the future.

Can you record data to see patterns throughout the day or night?

The TP55 will give you the minimum and maximum temperatures over a 24 hrs period. It resets automatically every 24 hrs period. It also gives humidity readings in the same way. I have found it brilliant for my use which was to monitor a repaired Freezer unit. It has sat in the freezer for 2 months reading the temp.

How accurate is this?

Not sure as you will need a professional unit check against. But seems to be acceptable as tried it outside to get both readings then taken inside and results were good. Have purchased 3 no

Do you have to set it up or does it do it automatically?

No set up is needed. Just touch the screen and you will get centigrade or fahrenheit. There is a place for this, just touch it and it changes from one to the other. This is the best ever Thermostat. It lights up for a few minutes to enable you to see the information but it is not necessary. It stands upright which is much better than being flat. I can't enthuse enough about this little Thermostat 3 inches x 4 inches but big enough for the job. It is used constantly and when the needle hits 74 I know it is time to turn down my heating. I do like it warm though. Good luck.

Can it be hung on the wall?

Yes, it has hole(s) in the back. It also has 2 magnets to be hung on a fridge which are surpringly good (doesn't slip away or anything similar).
