The Norpro Anti-Freeze Ice Cream Spade has a spade shape that makes it easier to use than the traditional scoop shape. The handle is comfortable to hold and really lets you get a grip, even when you’re trying to dig out really, really frozen-hard ice cream. It works best by melting a little as you scoop. The dimensions of the scoop itself are estimated to be about 2 inches wide and maybe 3 inches deep. However, some customers have reported issues with the product. Some have complained that the handle rattles and upon detaching it, they found that it was empty, while the majority says it operates like a solid piece of stainless steel. Also, it is NOT dishwasher safe and must be hand-washed. According to some customers, the two-piece design allows water/ dish soap/ ice cream/ etc., and may promote bacterial growth inside the cavity. Additionally, some customers have reported that the finished edges of the tool leave a lot to be desired since they can see grinder marks on their edges.
